Society of Public Health Educators (SOPHE) features EnhanceFitness in Toolkit to Support Virtual Management of Arthritis

The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) announces a new online toolkit for health professionals, Remote Delivery of Arthritis-Appropriate Evidence-Based Interventions (AAEBIs).The resource provides valuable information and actionable steps learned during the COVID-19 pandemic to expand the delivery of AAEBIs through remote methods such as internet, phone, and mail. “This toolkit highlights programs and services that can be delivered remotely to individuals living with arthritis, including those in rural areas,” says Anika Foster, DrPH, public health advisor in CDC’s Arthritis Program. “Using lessons learned from the pandemic, we can now help health care professionals and community organizations meet people where they are, bridge gaps, and move closer to our goal of achieving health equity.” Check out EnhanceFitness section!

America’s Health Rankings Spotlights EnhanceFitness as “What Works” to increase Physical Activity in those Age 65+

Readers of this newsletter know better than most that physical inactivity, or being sedentary, is common among older adults and is a risk factor for several health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and premature death.

America’s Health Rankings (, a data resource produced by the United Health Foundation, has published a report on the current state of physical activity among older adults in the USA. The report addresses why increasing physical activity matters – it can reduce all-cause mortality and can help prevent or delay the onset of many chronic conditions – and also calls out what works to get older adults moving. The report cites EnhanceFitness among successful interventions for its low cost, demonstrated physical and mental health outcomes, and proven ability to reduce health care costs and unplanned hospitalizations.
